NIST Traceable Size Standards Particles

Calibrate and validate particle sizing and counting instruments Thermo Scientific™ NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Traceable Size Standards work on an open platform without bias or restriction on any instrument brand or model. They come packaged in easy-to-use dropper-tipped bottles to minimize operator error by delivering the precise volume of beads into the instrument. Various polystyrene, silica, and glass beads are available in a broad range of sizes (20 nm to 2000 μm) to satisfy a broad range of instrument quality control and calibration needs.

Maximize instrument repeatability, reproducibility, and performance accuracy

Count Controls

Thermo Scientific™ Count Controls validate the results of laser particle counters regardless of brand to ensure they are accurately measuring for particulate matter in air, surface or liquid applications where contamination is a concern and requires diligent monitoring.

Applications

  • Calibration of particle counters using laser scatter, light scatter, light blockage,
  • imaging microscopy, and electrical resistance.
  • Verify instrument QC by checking for instrument problems, shifts in laser
  • function, and calibration curve shape variations.

Fluoro-Max Fluorescent Beads

Fluoro-Max fluorescent particles emit bright and distinct colors when illuminated by the light of shorter wavelengths which improves their contrast and visibility relative to background materials. As a result, these particles offer improved sensitivity and detectability for analytical methods.
These internally dyed polymer particles utilize the Firefli process to incorporate the dye throughout the polymer matrix. This produces bright fluorescent colors, minimizes photo bleaching, and prevents dye leaching into aqueous media.

Fluoro-Max Fluorescent Beads With Europium Chelate

Achieve high sensitivity in particle-based lateral flow assays with Thermo Scientific™ Fluoro-Max™ fluorescent carboxylate-modified beads, which come in 0.1 μm, 0.2 μm, and 0.3 μm nominal diameters. Streptavidin-coated beads are available with a 0.3 μm nominal diameter.
Internally dyed with europium chelate, the beads feature a broad Stokes Shift in which they excite at 333 nm and emit at 613 nm, and do so with a very long lifetime of approximately 0.5 milliseconds. This is about 10,000 to 100,000 times that of most fluorophores.
